Intruder

Digifem Festival, Kampnagel Hamburg, 2019
Futur III Festival, Kiel, 2021

A weird and wobbly metal giant on wheels enters the scene. Pretending to topple over at any moment, it is quite stable for its off-centre stature. With several screens attached to its crown, it lures the audience into its midst. Standing beneath the creature, presenting its bounty to the crowds, the view becomes clear:
It reveals the fragile tunnels and abysses of the human digestive system. A view made possible by technological instruments.

This piece raises questions about how we perceive our insides and what we put in them when we need to. Cynically, it shows us images of ourselves that we may not want to see, while opening the window to explore our insides. Humorously, the construction aims to meme the passages inside us, creating a somewhat humanoid hybrid between the two worlds. It shows that we are becoming more and more physically and mentally dependent and connected to technology.

The videos playing on the tablets are from colonoscopic examinations on humans.
